Walking for Wellness in White Rock
No doubt about it, one of the best ways to improve your overall health is to simply go for a walk. For many chronic conditions including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, chronic back pain, and depression, the benefits of walking are well documented. Fortunately, walking is low-impact, requires no special equipment or skills and can be done almost anywhere.
Most health professionals will recommend walking briskly for approximately 30 minutes per day. Of course, if you can’t manage 30 minutes a day, remember even a brief walk is beneficial. Time spent walking and moving can improve your muscle strength and flexibility, cardiorespiratory fitness, joint health, bone density and sleep quality. Additionally, walking can also aid with weight management, stress and overall mental health.
