Updated: May 10, 2021

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. A timely reminder for us all to learn about heart-health, active lifestyles, and the importance of cardiovascular fitness.

The foundation of heart health is a healthy lifestyle. According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, “almost 80% of premature heart disease and stroke can be prevented through healthy behaviours. That means habits like eating healthy, being active and living smoke-free, have a big impact on your health.”

Physiotherapy can help prevent cardiovascular disease by getting people in the habit of being more active. Not only will heart health improve, but an active lifestyle also promotes healthy weight, stable blood sugar levels and lowered blood pressure.

Most of us know that an active lifestyle is beneficial. However, sometimes the thought of getting started or returning to activity can feel overwhelming and perhaps intimidating, especially if you are experiencing pain or suffering from recurring injuries or chronic disease. Our experienced physiotherapists are here to work cooperatively with your medical doctor to support your goals and develop customized treatment plans. We are committed to helping you live your healthiest life.

If you are approved for exercise by your doctor but are concerned about how to proceed safely, call or email Advanced Physiotherapy. We look forward to working with you.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
